At out last meeting, many people spoke out against hydrofracking. New York State is putting in place new hydrofracking regulations and the strength of these regulations will determine if New York will feel the same toxic effects that have become endemic in parts of the country where fracking is now commonplace. The New York Department of Environmental Conservation, the body that will be issuing the new regulations, has several ways that you can make your voice heard to help stop this problem before it can affect our state’s groundwater:
1) The New York DEC is taking written testimony from the public via the internet here.
2) There will be two public hearings here in Manhattan. Both are being held on Wednesday, November 30th, at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center at 199 Chambers Street. The afternoon session runs from 1 PM to 4 PM and the evening session runs from 6 PM to 9 PM.
