Last Night We Won

While much of today’s press is about Republican Bob Turner’s victory in the race to replace former congressman Anthony Wiener, last night was a resounding victory for Democrats on the Upper East Side.

Of the six Assembly seats that were filled last night, the one so many of us have focused our energies on was the race to fill the seat left vacant by Jonathan Bing in the 73rd Assembly District. Our friend Dan Quart scored a commanding victory over Paul Niehaus, returning home at the end of the night with 64% of the vote. Five other Democrats statewide joined Dan yesterday in sweeping every single Assembly race that was held.

For anyone who gave their time, money, and effort towards winning this race, Dan Quart’s election is more than a simple victory. It reminds us that a campaign needs two things to be truly successful: it needs to begin with a great candidate and it needs to finish with the efforts of a community. By providing that support, you helped to send a great man to Albany.

Tomorrow is Special Election Day!

We’re down the the last few hours. At 9 o’clock tomorrow night, when the polls close, the 73rd Assembly District will have a new Assemblyman. The only question left is: Do you want to it to be Dan Quart?

Today

There are several ways you can help today and tomorrow. If you’re reading this early in the morning, stop by one of the several visibility locations being covered today at 7:30am. Many elected officials will be pitching in. Come and join them.

96th and Lex: Assemblyman Micah Kellner
86th and Lex: Dan, Councilmember Dan Garodnick, State Senator Liz Krueger
77th and Lex: Campaign Staff
56th and 1st Ave: City Councilwoman Jessica Lappin
48th and 2nd Ave: Assemblyman Brian Kavanagh

Starting at 9am, and going all day until about 9pm, the campaign will be doing it’s final phonebank. If you have the time, please stop in and help spread the campaigns message.

Tomorrow

On election day, there are many ways you can help. The most public of which will be campaigning near polling locations. If you’re interested in signing up for a visibility shift send an email to Amanda Wallwin at amandarose (at) gmail.com.

Also tomorrow, there are a number of jobs around the office that will need volunteers, including phoning people to remind them to vote, getting literature out to visibility volunteers, and taking care of any of the little things that crop up on election day.

Just drop in to the campaign office any time from 9am until 9pm at 198 East 76th Street, between Lexington and 3rd Avenue. Look for the door with a big “Dan Quart for Assembly” poster, and go up the stairs and to your left. There will be plenty to do, and your help will be greatly appreciated.

And if you’ve never seen the power of a predictive dialer in action, you owe it to yourself to drop in over the next two days and give it a try. Gone are the days when you needed to dial in each number by hand, only to find yourself listing to an answering machine or a phone that rings and rings. Dan has upgraded to a system that continuously connects you to people and allows you to focus on what matters most: getting out the message.

Dan Quart’s Campaign – The Final Week

Dan Quart’s Campaign

One week. That’s how much time is left in Dan’s race. Seven more days of knocking on doors, calling neighbors, and promoting progressive values. Seven chances for the campaign to make an impact on voters.

This is not the kind of race we are used to on the Upper East Side. We’ve seen our candidates face off against well funded challengers, we’ve seen highly competent opponents, but what we haven’t seen in ages is a low-turnout special election against someone with name recognition, money, and the entire weight of New York City’s Republican Machine focused into the most-Republican assembly district in Manhattan.

This race is different, and it needs your help.

In the next seven days, please take the time to attend a visibility event, stop in and phonebank, or just reach out to your friends in the 73rd Assembly District and remind them to vote.

Phonebanking happens daily. Visibility happens every morning and some afternoons. And special events abound this weekend.

If you have any questions or comments about how you can help with this race, don’t hesitate to contact Alex Agius at alexandraagius (at) gmail.com or 917-721-5340.

Get Out The Vote Events

Monday Sept 12th 9am-9pm – The day before the election is the single best time to remind people to vote in the upcoming election. Please come by at any point during the day, and help the campaign with their last big phonebank to get Democrats out to the polls.

Election Day, Tuesday Sept 13th, All Day until after polls close.
There are a number of volunteer jobs available, ranging from public visibility, poll watching, phonebanking, to literature delivery and more. Please stop by the office on election day and the campaign will direct you to where your help will do the most most good.
